Lynn Canyon Park, Vancouver

Lynn Canyon Park on the northeastern edge of Vancouver, is 617 acres of pristinely preserved second growth forest, which means that the trees range from 80-100 years old. Park highlights include an ecology center, a cafe/ranger station with a fireplace, miles of hiking trails, Lynn Creek, and a very popular suspension bridge.

Several billboards are posted opposite the ranger station, warning the public of all the park's aquatic havards. All four of us agreed that these illustrations were morbid yet fantastic. We spent several minutes reading and photographing the foreboding signage.

The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge spans 157 feet across, hangs 164 feet above Lynn Creek, and is impossible to photograph without capturing park visitors.

Press play to watch a video of Taylor crossing the Lynn Canyon suspension bridge with a camera. Listen to the rushing rapids below, and notice the all important steel cables holding the bridge securely to the rock walls.

Hiking into the thick old growth revealed a world of new plants at our feet!

Before hiking up the other side of the canyon, we sat by the creek, ate lunch, and played on the rocks.

Knobbly, twisted, exposed roots on our way back up to the parking lot
