Grand Canyon National Park - Arizona

Highway 64 into Grand Canyon National Park was like a parking lot. It probably took us close to one hour of idling to finally make it to the pay station. Once inside, we could not believe our eyes.

The visitor's guide states, "Over several million years the Colorado River has carved an immense chasm through this arid land. The layers of rock exposed in the canyon walls provide snapshots of the geologic events that shaped the American Southwest."

Jeremy in awe.

Parker and Jeremy at the Grand Canyon.

Parker trying to stay warm. It may not look cold, but with the wind chill the temperature was near or below 60 degrees - cold for us south Louisianans.

At sunset we began the long trek around the eastern rim of the canyon - highway 64 to highway 89, through the Navajo Indian Reservation, and up into Utah. That night we stayed at a hotel in Kanab, just past the Arizona/Utah border.
