If you find yourself driving the Florida panhandle, the Tallahassee Museum is a great kid-friendly pit stop. Most of the museum’s sites and activities are outdoors, so plan accordingly. When we visited, the temps climbed up beyond 100º. While there, we walked along a beautiful cypress swamp, spying lots of creatures along the way. Look out for artist Jim Gary’s series of dinosaurs made from car parts installed in the swamp.  Pretty cool stuff! Twice during our visit, an animal handler brought out cool animals. First we met a baby alligator, and then a full grown (but still tiny) screech owl. The museum also houses a handful of historic buildings that you can walk through and explore. Some of the structures we saw during our visit were: the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church (1851), the Concord Schoolhouse (1897), a caboose from the Seaboard railroad (1920s), and the Bellevue Plantation (built in 1831).
